We are not currently offering face to face appointments for routine screening for sexually transmitted infections but it may be possible to offer you a home testing kit.
This involves testing for chlamydia and gonorrhoea. When you call the receptionist will ask if your partners are male, female or both. This is so that we know what testing kit to send you. It is important to remember that there is a testing 'window period' for chlamydia and gonorrhoea which is 14 days. This means chlamydia and gonorrhoea may not be picked up on a test which is taken within 14 days of contracting the infection. It is recommended therefore that you wait for 14 days after a sexual contact that you are concerned about to take the test.
Home testing for HIV is also now available and can be accessed by visitingwww.hivtest.scot.
If you have painful or distressing symptoms or have been told that you may have been in contact with aninfection please call to arrange a telephone consultation with a nurse.
